With MZL & Novatech Traffic Statistics 1.2.0.0 Linux Server Bandwidth Usage Monitoring is now available for Linux like Suse 9, Redhat Fedora and Debian Sarge.

To configure the server, the Windows client is still needed, but the server can be helpful, when you have Windows workstations behind a Linux gateway connected to the internet.

So far the Traffic Statistics server will just run in a single directory, it's not integrated into the OS yet. To make the Traffic Statistics server start and stop when changing the runlevel or starting or stopping the computer, you may insert a script like the following to /etc/init.d and name it traffic_statistic:

Then you'll still have to create symbolic links from the runlevel directories /etc/init.d/rc[123456sS].d. I'ld recommend to start the bandwidth measurement server after and to stop it before all network interfaces like this around number 50:
cd /etc
ln -s /etc/init.d/traffic_statistic init.d/rc2.d/S50traffic_statistic
ln -s /etc/init.d/traffic_statistic init.d/rc2.d/K50traffic_statistic

ln -s /etc/init.d/traffic_statistic init.d/rc3.d/S50traffic_statistic
ln -s /etc/init.d/traffic_statistic init.d/rc3.d/K50traffic_statistic

ln -s /etc/init.d/traffic_statistic init.d/rc5.d/S50traffic_statistic
ln -s /etc/init.d/traffic_statistic init.d/rc5.d/K50traffic_statistic

Please do not just blindly copy the commands, the pathes may vary from Linux distribution to Linux distribution.
