Tekelec Announces Integrated Application Solutions for Business Intelligence, Performance Management Communications Software Solutions Group’s flagship product combines performance management applications with Tekelec’s signaling, switching strengths
Tekelec, developer of telecommunications products for next-generation fixed, mobile and packet networks, today announced Integrated Application Solutions (IAS), a suite of applications consisting of real-time data collection, correlation and processing. The suite gives operators the tools they need to generate critical business intelligence for revenue assurance and network and service performance management.
The Tekelec IAS supports wireline and wireless operators regardless of their network architecture; voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) and traditional time division multiplexing (TDM). IAS delivers a rich source of business intelligence data that can be used to perform the following functions:
* Traffic Management: perform traffic studies on voice facilities, calculate quality of service (QoS) statistics and track and report on service usage
* Roaming Management: support 2G, 2.5G and 3G technologies, including general packet radio service (GPRS) and universal mobile telecommunications system (UMTS), to identify the originating and terminating networks for roaming traffic, traffic volume from origination to destination, individual subscriber activities, short message service (SMS) content and short code tracking
* Billing Management: verify and manage inter-carrier billing agreements through comprehensive reporting; provide accounting feeds for service usage, voice calls and SMS; identify phantom traffic; validate call volumes; calculate percentage interstate usage, and identify QoS per interconnect
* Fraud Management: protect revenues by detecting abnormal subscriber behaviors and abuse associated with redirection, conference and international calling. Identify SMS spam, subscriber fraud and traffic increases for high-value services
* Troubleshooting: troubleshoot network problems through detailed protocol analysis and call traces that include all aspects of a call, including local number portability dips and calling name queries, reducing time to solve complex troubles
* Lawful Intercept: deliver SMS content, real-time call-tracing capabilities and subscriber activity tracking and profile reports to support law enforcement agencies
* Market Intelligence: identify and monitor traffic patterns to better define services and manage service margins; track the success of new service offerings; establish more profitable rate plans based on real-time traffic data and understand how subscribers use the network
* Security Management: identify denial of service attacks, track unauthorized network use and prevent catastrophic events causing service disruptions
IAS can be fully integrated with the Tekelec EAGLE 5® Signaling Application System and next-generation switching solutions or deployed as a standalone solution, which reduces operational expenses and allows operators to scale more quickly. The platform supports major industry protocols such as session initiation protocol (SIP), H.323, H.248, signaling system 7 (SS7), integrated services digital network (ISDN), GPRS and UMTS.
“IAS combines our unparalleled ability to collect and analyze network intelligence through our market-leading signaling and switching solutions with the real-time business intelligence and performance management capabilities we acquired recently from Steleus,” said Eric Gehl, president and general manager of Tekelec’s Communications Software Solutions Group. “Tekelec’s solution can scale to support operators of all sizes and types, providing the business tools they need to protect their network investments, increase profitability while identifying sources of revenue loss and improve subscriber satisfaction.”
The IAS platform is built using open interfaces and a Web-based graphical user interface, ensuring ease of use.
