SBC Communications Announces Powerful Online Network Monitoring Tools for Enterprise Business Customers Press Release
Addition of In-Depth, Real-Time WAN Monitoring Options and Price Reductions Enable More Businesses to Take Advantage of Efficiencies of Managed Services
SBC Communications Inc. today announced the introduction of powerful and easy-to-scale network monitoring services that enable businesses to track network and application performance in multiple locations, regardless of the carrier network being used, all in real time.
The addition of SBC PremierSERV(SM) Network Management Wide-Area Network (WAN) View monitoring options provide a powerful new capability for the SBC PremierSERV managed communications services portfolio. Real-time tracking of applications running across a network infrastructure can deliver a range of management benefits, including quick isolation of applications responsible for poor response times; optimization of bandwidth for key applications; understanding and tracing virus traffic within a network; and validation of service-level agreements and class-of-service delivery for Internet Protocol (IP) applications.
"Managed services continue to grow in popularity as businesses look to adopt advanced communications services while also maintaining strict cost controls, but many companies also are wary of giving up too much control over network functions," said Mark Fishler, vice president, SBC product management. "The addition of real-time monitoring tools allows SBC companies to provide the best of both worlds. SBC companies manage network services on an ongoing basis, and our customers have the power to determine exactly how we're doing, at any given moment or in any location."
Along with the new network monitoring options, SBC companies are reducing prices for many SBC PremierSERV Network Management service options. Standard monthly fees for popular service options have been reduced by up to 28 percent, depending on the package selected. Packages with the new SBC PremierSERV Network Management WAN View feature are priced competitively and are more robust than other offerings on the market today. Term and volume discounts also are available.
This latest service enhancement and pricing changes advance the SBC strategy to deliver an industry-leading portfolio of managed services at highly competitive prices.
The new WAN View monitoring capability utilizes Visual UpTime Select, the flagship performance management solution from Visual Networks. The SBC family of companies is one of the first major U.S. telecommunications providers to include this technology in its portfolio of network management services.
SBC PremierSERV Network Management WAN View managed service provides a subscriber with numerous benefits, including:
* Help reduce total cost of ownership through improved information and management.
* Carrier-agnostic validation of WAN service level agreements.
* Detailed monitoring for primary network elements, including the local loop, port, and end-to-end circuit.
* Highly detailed bandwidth planning capabilities.
* Extensive visibility and diagnostics to improve network and application availability.
* 24X7X365 proactive monitoring and notification, fault isolation and resolution.
